I mentioned before that I was unhappy with SiteUptime. I got a comment suggesting mon.itor.us. mon.itor.us is a free site, by Sourcio, that offers monitoring services. It has a neat Ajax interface that is pretty easy to use.
I am not sure how they are planning on making money.
