Simplify Your Smart Home: Control Your Devices with Just a Press of a Button with the Flic Hub and Flic Buttons

Are you tired of having to grab your phone every time you want to control a smart device in your home? The Flic Hub and Flic Buttons offer a simple solution that allows you to control your smart home with just the press of a button.

The Flic buttons use Bluetooth to communicate with your smartphone, meaning you can trigger actions such as turning on the lights or adjusting the thermostat with just a press of the button. This is great when you are home and need to control your smart devices. But the real magic of the Flic system enables this functionality when your phone isn't around.

The Flic Hub is a compact wireless hub that acts as a bridge between your Flic buttons and your smart devices. It connects to your home's Wi-Fi or Ethernet network and can support up to 63 Flic buttons, making it possible to control multiple devices with just a few presses. And because the Flic Hub doesn't rely on your phone, you can control your smart home even when your phone isn't there.

The Flic buttons come in a variety of colors and can be customized to perform different functions. You can stick them to a wall, wear them as a wristband, or place them anywhere else for easy access. Using the buttons is simple: press once for one function, press twice for another function, or hold down for a third function.

Another great thing about the Flic buttons is that they're compatible with a wide range of smart devices, including smart lights, smart locks, smart thermostats, and more. This means you can control all of your smart devices with just a few presses, without having to grab your phone or tablet.  The possibilities really open with Home Assistant.

Integrating the Flic hub with Home Assistant does take some work to set up.  The first integration that you will find is this one, which allows you to have the Home Automation installation itself receive the Bluetooth signal from the buttons themselves.  But since I didn't want to grant the virtual machine that is running our Home Assistant installation access to Bluetooth hardware on the machine, and I had the Flic Hub, I was looking to integrate home Assistant with the hub.

Instead, it is possible to upload some Javascript that runs on the Flic Hub.  This integration injects events into Home Assistant over the local network, where you can trigger automations to control anything that the Home Assistant installation can talk to.  You can find some instructions for setting this up on this page.

In conclusion, the Flic Hub and Flic buttons are a simple and convenient solution for controlling your smart home. Whether you want to turn on the lights, adjust the thermostat, or play music, the Flic buttons make it easy to do so with just a few presses. And with the added benefit of the Flic Hub, you can control your smart devices even when your phone isn't around. So why wait? Simplify your smart home life today with the Flic Hub and Flic buttons!
