Updated Honda Navigation DVD

I bought the updated DVD for our 2004 Honda Odyssey, and the 2.20 version arrived on Friday.  I was hoping that, in addition to the updated maps, it would include some software fixes like improving searching speed.

The upgrade went very well, with no problems.  We didn't drive to any areas where the roads have change recently, like around the San Jose airport, so I don't know if the maps are significantly improved.  But we did notice a speed improvement when searching for places.  The other thing that they added is that when getting directions, the navigation shows the exit numbers when directed to exit a freeway.

I made a copy with no problems with nero. I just did the DVD Copy and burned it to a Dual Layer DVD and it works perfectly in my Odyssey. I have the 4.31c white disk. I'd upload it somewhere if anyone wanted it. ~8GB though...

We bought a new 2005 Odyssey with Nav disc ver. of 4.13C. In the beginning of 2007 they sold us an upgrade disc of ver. 4.62. After doing the upgrade the system would not work and we got a message saying we couldn't use our system either. That has been a year now and neither Honda or Alpine seem to care. So far owning a Honda has been our worst vehicle experience. Lee's Summit Honda has lousy customer service also. We kept telling them the power steering pump was bad but they said it "normally makes that noise." Three thousand miles past warranty they replaced it because it was bad. If anyone knows how to fix it so we can use our old DVD please inform. Generally the van is great but next time I'm buying a Garmin!

We just puruchased a used Accord that did not come with the 3.7 navi disk. Have found that they are on back order. Is there any other place to get one? Really nervous to get this working.

I have an 2006 Honda Odyssey with the Navigation unit, I ordered a 2008 update disc which is worse than the 2006. I wanted the update because I moved from NYC to Savannah, GA where most of the suburb areas do not show up on the map. Now that I have the new dvd, the roads still either don't show up or say I'm off road. The points of interest that have been updated now show up 1/4 to 1/2 mile off course. Try putting in the old DVD and the GPS unit says wrong version. I feel as if Alpine/Honda have ripped me off. Very disappointed and do not recommended buying any updates at this point. This is one issue that deserves a class action law suit.

I'll give you one hint, Verbatim DVD+R DL DVD's work.

I was successful at creating a copy of my 2003 navigator disk (version 2.05B). So far the player is happy with it. It is a 2003 version because I feel $149.00 is too much to pay for updates. At least I won't have to buy a new one due to scratches/etc now. The trick is to make sure the Booktype is set to DVD-ROM and use good quality DVD+r media. For newer cars, the DVD is different, but I would GUESS the DVD+r DL with Booktype set to DVD+r ROM would work fine. The reflectivity of the disks is about the same and the player cant see the color.
