Updated Honda Navigation DVD

Paul Westbrook | 18 July, 2005 00:15

I bought the updated DVD for our 2004 Honda Odyssey, and the 2.20 version arrived on Friday.  I was hoping that, in addition to the updated maps, it would include some software fixes like improving searching speed.

The upgrade went very well, with no problems.  We didn't drive to any areas where the roads have change recently, like around the San Jose airport, so I don't know if the maps are significantly improved.  But we did notice a speed improvement when searching for places.  The other thing that they added is that when getting directions, the navigation shows the exit numbers when directed to exit a freeway.

Where do you get yours [Reply]

Hi,

Where do you get your update dvd map for your Odyssey and how much?

I got a 2001 Odyssey, the navi is good about town, but when we get to Modesto, no local street map is available.

Please advice and thanks.

Howdy, Paul.

The newest version (aledges to be "2006") for older Odyssey (mine is a 2003 model) is version 2.30A. This is the 'disk version', which is the not the same as 'database version'. The database version (you can call this up on your screen via the "set-up" menus) is 2.11.28.

The link to obtain the software is now: https://iweb.alpine-usa.com/Hondadvdsales/naviorder.php insteads of www.hondanavi.com and Alpine provides the order fulfillment.

Alpine website does include a listing of the improvements, including areas with better street coverage (such as Modesto).

The new DVD is on special for $149; it installed well and seems to work right.

Rgds, Shawn

Backup Copy Of DVD [Reply]

Does anyone have experience using a DVD burner to make a backup copy of their Honda DVD? As a computer person I normally make a backup copy of the master disk of anything that has to run in a device for long periods, run on the backup and save the master in a safe place, in case the disk in the unit goes bad.

Coordinates from Pilot Nav [Reply]

Is it possible to display longitude and lattitude on the 2004 Pilot navigation system?

Coordinates [Reply]

I have found that you can see the coordinates, by pressing on the satellite signal strength icon when in map view.

honda disk updates [Reply]

Updates of Honda navigation disks can be purchased at 1-888-291-4675.
Note: They cost over $180.00!!

honda nav DVD updates [Reply]

$180 + for updated DVD is a rip-off, especially, considering they charge over $2000 initially; updates should be frr for that system cost.

reply_stringBackup Copy Of DVD [Reply]

I just tried to do this. It was not successful, but this is what I did. Using Roxio 7.0 I inserted the original orange disk for the accord. Don't remember the version number. It appeared to copy ok,but when I placed it in the dvd player the system choked on it stating that it was the wrong disk. It could have been that the burn side was not the silver sided coated one that the original one is rather then the code itself. I used DVDDL Plextor drives to perform this. The law allows us to make a copt, but the issue is how to do it.Hope this helps. Maybe of we can find a DVD manufacturer that makes the silver based DVD's I will try again.

I can tell you how far I have been with this one. First the media is DVDDL,which means that you have to have dual layer dvd burn players. Then you need the DL media, and Honda states that you need hwat is called silver bottom media. I tried the darker colored, and it does not work. What I dont knoa is if it is DVD+r DL or DVD-R DL. Still working on it.

Would like to make a backup copy of my new '04 Accord Navigation Disc [Reply]

I just bought the update for my '04 accord navigation disc. I too would like to make a back up copy since I dropped $149 + shipping for this disc. I'm working with a mac and do have a dual layer burner as well as dual layer discs. If the system needs a silver colored disc though, then I'm in trouble
