After-market navigation with XM data

Paul Westbrook | 29 December, 2004 21:52

Pioneer Electronics AVIC-NC2 In a previous post, I mentioned that XM is delivering navigation data in their stream, and the Acura RL is using this data in its navigation stystem. I was hoping that someone would come out with an after-market system that uses this data. This post at Droxy mentions that Pioneer has announced their AVIC-NC2.

The AVIC-NC2 will pull down the navigation data from XM and Navteq and display it on the screen. This will come with a 6.5-inch retractible touch screen, and will play back DVDs and CDs.

I think that it is great that there is an after-market system that includes this capability, but I am not a fan of the retractible screens. I would rather a screen that takes 2 slots in my dash. I think that I would only buy something if I could just replace the navigation in the Odyssey with one that supports this extra data from XM, since I already have a screen in the dash.
