Google Response for copyright infrigement

In a previous post, I mentioned that there was a web site that had been posting my content without permission. I had contacted Google since this web master was attempting to make money by posting Google AdSense ads on these pages.

The response that I got was that Google only is responsible for the contents of the ads, and not the content of the the web pages that the ads are displayed on.

Google AdSense is a program for web publishers who want to display advertising on web pages they control. By placing AdSense code on their web pages, the publisher can display text-based Google ads that are relevant to the content readers see on the pages. Publishers, not Google, control what pages have ads and the content of those pages.

Google is a provider of information, not a mediator. We serve ads targeted to certain web pages, but we don't control the content of these pages. For these kinds of questions or comments, it is best to directly address the webmaster of the page in question.

I am disappointed in this response. I understand that Google is making money from these ads, but I would think that they wouldn't want to make money from ads on content that is questionable.

I hear your pain. Had a similar experience from Google when I wrote to them. However it doesnt stop you threatening the site with going to google about it - they don't know that you've gotten this response.

BTW - I wrote a post on this problem yesterday and put the link as my URL - feel free to check it out. You can apply to have the site in question banned from Google.
